February Meeting — 2.18.2012

C. Davida Ingram and Natasha Marin (Tashi Ko) wanted their Facebook friendship to beome a "real life connection" ... a couple emails later and the get-together was all set up. Tashi being the girl she is, figured why not kill a few birds with one stone and invited addition Facebook friends. Likewise, Davida additional guests. It wasn't long till Seattle People of Color Salon was born.

Salons, for generations have been organized by women who are leaders in the community to expand circles, create dialogues, and promote positive change. SPoCS is a safe-space for People of Color to gather and exchange ideas.

One Way Motel

Joyva, lives in San Francisco because of the city's free health care programs. Originally stemming from New Jersey, in 80s and 90s resided in Seattle on Pike and Broadway. 

Richard Sleeping

An hour later I returned to find Richard awake. I took a chance and politely approached informing him I took his photo while resting. I was hoping to spend some time with him and get to know his story. 

"Both of my parents were herions addicts. So growing up in Montana, made my life just a little bit tougher." — Richard 

At the age of 19, Richard packed him few belongings, and snuck on back of a train. He traveled along side a hobo who could perform simple magic ticks and illusions. "Unfortunately so much time has passed I can't remember his name. He was a gentle kinda o' guy though."

Seattle's Second Day of Snow

Sledding on Denny Hill
Capitol Hill Seattle, WA

A group of Capitol Hill residents gathered at the top of Denny Hill.

A father helps his son torpedo face first.

A man prepares his sled by applying ski wax.

If you don't have a sled, steal a parking sign.

An elderly man blasts through the crowd and carves down the hill.

Holding on tight!

Friends, sledding, and beer.

Ignore the signs and have fun!

If you don't have a snowboard, a sled, or a stolen sign...cardboard works too.
